Eng. Randazzo performs Naval Surveys to evaluate the condition of a vessel’s hull by identifying the presence of damages often not visible to the naked eye, such as osmosis and delamination in fiberglass hulls, using non-invasive techniques and instrumental investigations that are part of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), such as Moisture meters. , Infrared Thermocamerasand Ultrasonic Inspection
As for metallic hulls, it is possible to assess the presence of corrosion of the hull’s sheets and identify any critical issues through a non-invasive external analysis by performing Ultrasonic Inspections using Thickness Gauges and Defect Detectors.
Active thermographic inspection.
The inspections of fiberglass hulls always start with a visual inspection and a possible tapping of the hull. Subsequently, the moisture levels are measured, and an Active Thermographic Inspection is performed. In more complex cases, the layers of fiberglass and sandwich panels are analyzed to detect the presence of delamination and osmotic processes with Ultrasonic Inspection.
Eng. Randazzo is an Aeronautical Engineer with a Master’s degree in Advanced Composite Materials obtained from the University La Sapienza in Rome, and a Master’s degree in Applied Thermography for Industry and Building obtained from the Polytechnic University of Milan.
Qualified Level II Operator.
Qualified Level II Operator in accordance with UNI ISO 9712 and SNT TC 1A standards for Visual Testing (VT), Thermographic Testing (TT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) methods, certified by the Bureau Veritas Certification Body.
Registered with the Order of Engineers of Rome since 2004 and in the process of registration with the Register of Technical Consultants of the Court (C.T.U.) of Rome.
